Our building is a 200 year old coach house which was then converted in to Paddy's family home & Pub (Guerin's Bar). The family home is now the Kingfisher Lodge. As mentioned, this building is 200 years old and is modernised as far as possible without damaging the character and heritage of the building. You will find that it is certainly clean, warm and welcoming. But, it does come with character. We say this as we would just like to set your expectations. We have many gleaming reviews which also come with many pictures and videos across many platforms such as Google, Booking.com & Facebook, you will find this easily online. Please be advised, all of our rooms share a communal bathroom which is strictly for our guests only and is found on the same floor as the rooms. It comes equipped with a shower, bath, sink & toilet. Toiletries and towels are also provided. While we do provide a fridge, microwave and tea / coffee station in the landing area, there is no cooking facilities. Every room comes with a smart tv with Disney, Netflix, Prime & more. We also offer high speed fibre optic wifi. Our traditional Irish pub is attached to our lodge. Guests are welcome to come and have a pint and listen to music. Live traditional music is a common occurance and sets the tone for an enjoyable night, sitting by the open fire and enjoying a drink. Additionally, for those who may enjoy fishing. Castleconnell Salmon Fishery is one of the most prestigious Salmon Fisheries in Ireland, located on the Shannon just 7 miles, 11 kms upriver of Limerick City and tidal water. The Fishery is about 4.5 miles long comprising 6 beats, each permitting 4 rods per beat. Each beat has up to six or more pools. The Fishery operates from sunrise to sunset seven days a week from March 1st to end of season September 30th. Paddy, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable about this and will guide you in the right direction should you wish to go fishing. More locally, we have the Castleoaks House Hotel and Bamboo Garden Asian restaurant. For breakfast and lunch there is the Shannon House or for a coffee, tea and pastry there is the ProTea cafe. Lodgers are more than welcome to bring their food to the pub downstairs to enjoy it there. There is also other local amenities in the village such a Shannon Stores corner shop. Whisps hairdressers. Sloans and Greencross Pharmacies. Supervalu Supermarket and Spin City, our local laundrette. There is also a train station just a one minute walk away which will bring you to Limerick City as well as a bus station just outside our front door. We also offer a private carpark for our guests. Finally, our must valuable asset, Paddy. At 88 years young and still running the Kingfisher Lodge and Bar. He is readily available to offer you assistance with anything you need.
